Built in 1927, St. John’s is a summer chapel that provides interfaith services to the summer population on Lake Winnipesaukee. The Chapel is located on the highest elevation on the southern end of Bear Island in Meredith, New Hampshire. It can be reached by a short walk from the church docks located in Deep Cove on the southwest end of the island, as well as by other marked paths. It is a unique and captivating place of worship and is the only island chapel on the entire lake.
Everyone is welcome at our services, regardless of one’s religious affiliation. We invite you to join us each Sunday.
Services begin at 10:00 am Sunday mornings and are led each week by different ministers from various denominations. There is also a service led by campers. The services are enhanced by the music of our 1897 Estey organ.
